Antihéroe por un día

Julio Adolfo Cozzi nació en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, el 14 de julio de 1922, falleciendo con 89 años cumplidos, el 25 de septiembre de 2011.

Se formó como arquero en las divisiones inferiores de Platense, llegando a debutar en la Primera División el Día de la Patria de 1941, cuando con 18 años enfrentó a los delanteros de Atlanta por la 9° fecha del campeonato.

Ese día, en el arco bohemio estaba otro gran arquero de la época, Claudio Vacca, quien luego se consagraría en Boca Juniors.

Cozzi defendió la valla de Platense por 9 años, hasta que en el año 1950 se marchó a Colombia para enrolarse en el mítico Millonarios, con el que conquistó 3 campeonatos locales.

En el club colombiano tuvo de compañeros nada menos que a Alfredo Di Stéfano, Adolfo Pedernera, Néstor Rossi y Antonio Báez, entre otros, alcanzando seguramente el máximo rendimiento de su carrera deportiva.

En 1955 regresó a Platense, donde tuvo el sinsabor de descender de categoría junto al equipo de su primer amor. Sin embargo, Cozzi no jugó en la Primera B, porque fue contratado por Independiente, donde pasó 4 temporadas.

Lo que pocos recuerdan es que en 1959 Cozzi estuvo en la B, defendiendo el arco de Banfield.

En su 2° partido en la categoría, debió enfrentar a su querido Platense, por primera y única vez oficialmente, en la cancha que lo vio nacer, en Manuela Pedraza y Crámer.

Sin embargo, ese 9 de mayo de 1959 no dejó ver al gran Arquero del Siglo como fuese bautizado, debiendo soportar que un ignoto delantero llamado Jorge Rubén Piotti le anotase 4 goles, con los que Platense derrotó 4-2 a Banfield, con la particularidad de que dos de ellos fueron de tiro libre y uno, olímpico.

Piotti cerró en ese 1959 su efímera vida futbolística que había comenzado en 1956, dejando para el recuerdo sus 4 goles a Cozzi que lo convirtieron en un antihéroe por un día.
